Standing in the rain...

I stood out in the rain while the heavens opened and it poured down.

People watched as the cuffs of my pants became wet from the puddles building up.

I smiled as I looked at my marvelous friend keeping me dry. My new friend Brooke from Melbourne. She let me look up at the sky as the droplets proceeded to hit the rounded curve of the transparent material and land at my feet reminding me that I was standing in the cold and wet.

I have been waiting for this moment. I haven't actively pursued it but I have waited for it.

When someone sees something that reminds them of a moment you once shared, then rings or messages to remind you that they were thinking of you, it's a nice feeling.

When someone sees something that reminds them of a moment you shared, then proceeds to find a means of bringing that something home to you, there is only so much that you can think or say at that moment.

A thoughtful smile. Silence.

It's not just a warm feeling, but a moment in itself, as you relive the specialness of the moment you both shared and as you feel the reassurance and quiet confidence that this friendship brings to your life.

There was nothing else I could think of saying that would adequately describe the way I felt inside. It was one of those moments. Yup, one of those moments that happens when you least expect it to, but remains with you for life.

There was no need for words. I just stood as it rained, and smiled.
