As a Christian, does it make me different? Do they have to treat me differently? Especially when the rest profess that Christianity is nothing more than a thing that weird people believe in? Even Christmas, it's just a time for presents.
I've had comments that I'm religious (which I'm not- I just have a relationship with Jesus) and that we're an outdated lot. I don't mind what they do but the fact that they treat you different but I guess you are and as JC said,
"If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also." (John 15:20 NIV)
Therefore we should be ready to be treated differently- not that we'll necessarily be persecuted but they'll treat us as aliens. The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren mentions that we are merely here for a purpose and that we'll be returning home soon.
They're all discussing topics at the moment and I'm just listening in- it's quite amazing all the things they are discussing- Euthanasia, living in defacto relationships, the Box Deli and also what they'll be doing for Christmas.
Here are my opinions but i stress they are only MY opinions and I do not force them on anyone.
I don't believe euthanasia is an option- God is the giver of life and He is the only one with the right to take it away. We may be in pain and going through the hardest time but trials only make us stronger and build character. Easy to say since I'm not going through a terminal illness currently but my aunt is a testimony to living through pain and illness- she doesn't let it bother her, in fact she lives life to the fullest.
Living in de facto relationships I don't agree with as it isn't right. I'd imagine it'd be hard enough being close to or next to the person you're attracted to but living with them causes complications and just creates unnecessary temptation. Living with anyone in an intimate relationship before marriage is a no but its just for our own protection and good rather than God wanting to squash our fun. He made it for us to enjoy, but within the rules He set too.
Box Deli- my mate wanted to go there for her birthday but we ended up just having Japanese at Matsuri and deciding the Box Deli would be kept for her 21st... sounds good. I'll start saving up now.
I know what I'll be doing for Christmas... but at the moment just focussing on carols in the park this sunday. If you wanna come along, it's on Sunday at Len Shearer Reserve, Marcus Avenue in Booragoon, Western Australia. Family fun starts at 4:30pm and official carols start at 7pm. Hope you can make it- it'll be an awesome time.
And that's the end of my rant for the moment...
